Dynamics GP login issue

While log in into GP, sometimes we may face few login issues. Here I have described one of the login issue which we facing most of the times.

Issue: Your attempt to log in to the server failed because an unknown error occurred when the user ID and password were being verified. Attempt to log in again.

Cause 1: We are facing this issue because of the service for SQL server instance has been stopped in server side. If the SQL server instance running under admin/user credential, while changing the password for admin/user login then the SQL server instance service will stop automatically.

Cause 2: The ODBC drive for the Data Source not mapped with correct SQL sever insance.

Resolution 1: To solve this issue, go to SSMS (SQL Sever Management Studio) and connect the Sql server instance, it will through the below error.

Cannot connect to server.

Additional information:
–> A nerwork-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 – Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)

Then go to SQL server installed server and open windows services (To open: Go to: Run–>Type “sevices.msc”–>Click OK).

In services window, go to your SQL Server instance and right click then start the services. If this not started, right click and click properties then choose log on pane and verify the account name and password and start again.

Resolution 2: Go to ODBC (Data sources) and choose system DSN to verify the mapped SQL server instance. If not mapped properly, we need to map again and check to log in GP.

Hope this helps!!!
